Location
- Bolu Yedigöller National Park is a natural wonder located in the Western Black Sea Region, in the north of Bolu province.
- Declared a national park in 1965, it covers an area of 1640 hectares and is situated at an altitude of 883 meters above sea level.
Lakes
- The name Yedigöller (Seven Lakes) comes from the seven lakes it contains: Büyükgöl (Big Lake), Seringöl (Lilac Lake), Deringöl (Deep Lake), Nazlıgöl (Delicate Lake), Küçükgöl (Small Lake), İncegöl (Thin Lake), and Sazlıgöl (Reed Lake).
- These lakes are natural dam lakes formed as a result of landslides and are interconnected by surface and underground flows.
Flora and Fauna
- The park is home to a rich variety of plants. It includes tree species such as oak, alder, yellow pine, black pine, fir, hornbeam, linden, and ash.
- Approximately 1000 mushroom species and various endemic plants increase the park’s biodiversity.
- The park is also rich in wildlife. Deer, bears, wild boars, squirrels, wolves, foxes, and rabbits can be seen in their natural habitats.
- It is home to over 100 bird species. Birds such as mallards, wild pigeons, woodpeckers, nightingales, quails, snipes, starlings, magpies, and partridges can be observed.
Visiting Time and Activities
- The park can be visited in every season. It is said that the park is covered in a riot of colors in autumn and reflects the awakening of nature in the best way in spring.
- Activities such as hiking, taking pictures, having picnics, and camping can be done.
- It is an ideal getaway for nature lovers and campers.
Transportation
- It is provided by roads branching north from the Bolu city center.
- There are no regular vehicles to the park in the summer months, but travel agencies organize day trips.
- In winter, since the Bolu-Yedigöller road may be closed, transportation is recommended via Yeniçağa – Mengen – Yazıcık.
